‘We wish them well’ – Morocco take failed 2026 World Cup bid in good faith

Morocco have congratulated the United States of America, Canada and Mexico for winning the united bid to host the 2026 Fifa World Cup.

The north African nation lost votes by 134-65 at the 68th Fifa Congress in Moscow on Wednesday

The defeat at the polls meant Morocco have now lost five World Cup bids including 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010 attempts.

However, in a show of sportmanship, Morocco have wished the North American countries well as they prepare to host the world in eight years time.

"At the 68th Fifa Congress, member associations have voted in favour of the North American United bid, which will now organise the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
