Another United States youth international is heading to the Bundesliga. USMNT U-20 midfielder Alex Mendez announced recently that he had signed a contract with SC Freiburg. The 18-year-old will join the team after the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
Mendez was a member of the LA Galaxy academy, and appeared six times this season for LA Galaxy II in USL. Operating mainly as a center attack midfielder, he had one goal and added 3 assists for Los Dos. He has also appeared for the USMNT U-17s and U-20s, tallying a goal and an assist for the U-17s and 2 assists for the U-20s.
