U.S. national team trims squad to 23 players ahead of friendlies

U.S. Soccer has announced a final squad of 23 players to face Serbia in a friendly on Sunday.

Bruce Arena had 29 players in his first training camp since taking over as coach for Jurgen Klinsmann, but the federation said Chris Wondolowski, Taylor Kemp, Keegan Rosenberry, Brian Rowe and Wil Trapp will return to their MLS clubs.

LA Galaxy striker Gyasi Zardes has a minor contusion in his right knee and will not travel with the team to San Diego.

Jozy Altidore is in line to earn his 100th cap with the national team should he play against Serbia.
