U.S. assistant Andreas Herzog open to Werder Bremen managerial job

U.S. national team assistant coach Andreas Herzog is interested in returning to the Bundesliga to take over his former club Werder Bremen.

"Everyone knows that Werder Bremen is still my club and is still near and dear to me," Herzog told Sport1, and when asked by Kreiszeitung about a possible return to Bremen as a coach he said that "everyone would like to do it."

The former Austria international added: "Werder Bremen are very interesting, but I don't want to put my name forward."

Herzog, who spent eight largely successful years at Bremen in the 1990s and early noughties, took over his role with United States in 2011 and is also head coach of the under-23 side.
