United States international Timothy Weah thanked the fans after scoring his first competitive goal for Paris Saint-Germain as they beat Monaco 4-0 to win the Trophee des Champions on Saturday.

Weah, the 18-year-old son of the legendary George Weah, struck after 67 minutes of the match, played in China, when he steered home a low cross from inside the area.

It was his second goal of PSG's preseason campaign, and in a message to fans afterwards he said: "Thank you to all of my French supporters, and especially the Parisiens.

"Sorry I cannot say thank each and every single one of you, but it is truly because of you that I wake up every morning happy to go to training and to give everything on the pitch.
