Sergiño Dest leads U.S. Soccer’s Young Male Player of the Year nominees

Yesterday, U.S. Soccer announced their nominees for the 2019 Young Male Player of the Year. Gianluca Busio, Sergiño Dest, Ricardo Pepi, Paxton Pomykal, Gio Reyna, and Chris Richards are the six players up for the award.

Gianluca Busio broke out this year for the United States U-17s as well as Sporting Kansas City. Sergiño Dest emerged as a regular starter this season for Ajax. He was a star for the U-20s during the U-20 World Cup and made 3 appearances for the USMNT this fall, becoming cap-tied to the USMNT when he started against Canada in CONCACAF Nations League play.
