Weston McKennie is the latest player to pull out of the U.S. squad that will face Colombia and Peru in friendlies during the upcoming international window, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced on Sunday.
Toronto FC midfielder Marky Delgado will take McKennie's place on the roster, keeping the size of the team at 23 players.
McKennie, 20, scored his first Bundesliga goal in Schalke's 2-0 victory over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday, just days after tallying his first goal for the club in their 1-0 Champions League victory over Lokomotiv Moscow. But McKennie was forced to leave the Dusseldorf match in the 79th minute with what was initially described as a calf injury.
