United States international Weston McKennie is set for a major spell on the sidelines, his Bundesliga club Schalke announced on Tuesday.
The midfielder fell awkwardly on his shoulder in the 10th minute of Sunday's match against Eintracht Frankfurt and was stretchered off the field.
McKennie was substituted and following further examinations has been ruled out until at least February.
