Legendary Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Bonetti dies aged 78 after battle with long-term illness

Chelsea have announced the death of former goalkeeper Peter Bonetti, who passed away at the age of 78 after a battle with long-term illness.

The man nicknamed 'The Cat' due to his superb reflexes between the sticks featured in 729 games for Chelsea over the course of two spells at the club, putting him second in the club's list of all-time appearances.

Bonetti also won seven caps for England, and served as number two behind Gordon Banks during the team's run to glory at the 1966 World Cup.
