The 'Cooling Technology' at the stadiums have been the talk of the town ever since Qatar won the rights to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Since 2009, Dr Saud Abdul Ghani, Professor at the College of Engineering at Qatar University, has been heading the project.

The Al-Wakrah Stadium, one of the eight venues selected to stage the global competition in Novermber-December 2022, threw open its gates on Thursday, 16 May 2019.
