Ventura Alvarado and Club America lose FIFA Club World Cup third place match

Atletico Nacional defeated Club America in a penalty shootout to clinch third place in the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup at Japan’s International Stadium Yokohama.

The two teams finished regulation tied at 2-2. Miguel Borja scored the winning spot kick.

USMNT defender Ventura Alvarado started and was subbed out at halftime. The 24-year old is set to join Santos Laguna in the upcoming transfer window. After not playing for much of the year, he’s suddenly become a regular player for his club in the Club World Cup and the Liguilla Apertura.

America faces UANL in a two leg series on December 22nd and December 25th in their final matches of 2016.
