USWNT defender Davidson out 10-12 weeks with broken ankle

U.S. women’s national team and Stanford University defender Tierna Davidson will be out 10-12 weeks with a fractured ankle, U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday.

Davidson, who turns 20 on Wednesday, suffered the injury against University of North Carolina on Sept. 9 when she was the victim of a nasty tackle.

The injury will force Davidson out for most, if not all of the remainder of Stanford's season, and will also see her miss next month's Concacaf Women's Championship, which doubles as qualifying for next summer's World Cup.

Davidson has established herself as one of the USWNT's fastest-rising players in 2018, earning 12 caps (all starts) and leading the USA in minutes played with 1,049.
