The United States men’s national team finally kick off the final round of World Cup qualifying tonight. Only 10 matches stand between them and a spot in the 2018 World Cup to be held in Russia.
To kick off CONCACAF’s Hexagonal, the U.S. will host their most bitter rivals, Mexico, in Columbus to see which regional power will gain the upper-hand early on in the final round. With three of the six teams guaranteed qualification and a fourth granted a spot in a playoff, odds are good that both the U.S. and Mexico will qualify, but which ever team can get off to a good start tonight will have a much easier path to doing so.
