Tim Weah scores in PSG’s season opener

Paris Saint-Germain opened the Ligue 1 season with a 3-0 win over Stade Malherbe Caen at the Parc des Princes. American Timothy Weah scored the match’s third goal, redirecting goalkeeper Brice Samba’s pass into the back of the net in the 89th minute.

Due to Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani resting, some tipped Weah for a start; however, he began the match on the bench. The 18-year old attacker entered in the 82nd minute, replacing Neymar. He came close to scoring prior to his goal, but his effort rebounded off the post.

While Weah has been considered a candidate for a loan, it’s looking increasingly more likely that he will stay with PSG this season.
