Joe Corona wins CONCACAF Goal of the Year

Joe Corona only scored one goal for Club América in his loan from Club Tijuana, but his one goal was a doozy. Corona’s goal for Mexico’s Club América against Panama’s Tauro FC in the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League was enough of a beauty to win CONCACAF Goal of the Year for 2018.

The 28-year-old United States international sent a missile into the net against Tauro to open the scoring in a 4-0 rout in the first leg of that quarterfinal. He appeared 33 times for América during his 2018 loan, his lone goal being the one that brought home the prize.
