The United States Men’s National Team now knows the road it will travel as they seek to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. World Cup qualifying begins next June for the USMNT, and they will need to grind out 14 matches to be one of the 3 teams from Concacaf that advances directly to Qatar.
However, with so many matches, The Ocho, or The Octagon, will require a player pool with many options at each position. It’s grueling, and we won’t have the same 11 players starting every match. It will be up to head coach Gregg Berhalter to navigate the choppy waters of qualifying and go with guys that can handle the pressure.
