Australia & New Zealand to Host 2023 World Cup

FIFA has announced that the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand following a vote by the FIFA council.

The competition to host the tournament was originally very competitive, with additional bids from Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Colombia, and an odd proposal for a joint tournament shared between North and South Korea. However, by the time of the vote, the bids had been reduced to between Colombia and Australia/New Zealand. None of these three bidding nations has hosted a Women’s World Cup in the past.
