Woman wounded when 17 shots were fired in Hartford, police say

The ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alerted police to a shooting in the area of Wethersfield Avenue and Elliot Street shortly after 7:30 p.m., they said. It recorded 17 rounds being fired.

Officers arrived and found signs of gunfire but no victim. The female victim ended up being found on Benton Street, also in the South End, with a gunshot wound to the inner part of her right thigh, police said.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment, and the Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions were called to investigate.
