A woman in her 30s has died in a fire in a multi-family dwelling close to the midtown campus of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, the fire department said in a press release.
The woman, who was not identified Sunday morning, died after a fire broke out at 29 Ninth Ave. just after midnight, the fire department said.
Danbury Fire Department units were dispatched after reports of smoke detector activation and smoke odors. They discovered “a smoke condition and a smoldering fire” in the first floor of the residence, described as a two-story multi-family dwelling.
The female victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.
