UConn Baseball had four players selected in the 2016 MLB First Year Player Draft and they now have their first off the board in 2017 in Wills Montgomerie. The junior right-hander was selected in the sixth round, 190th overall, by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Montgomerie still has eligibility remaining, so if he chooses not to sign with the Dodgers before 11:59 p.m. on August 15, he can return to Storrs and complete his senior year.
The signing bonus value assigned to the 190th overall pick is $231,900.
Should he sign and not return, Montgomerie would likely report to the Odgen Raptors of the Pioneer League, a Rookie level team.
