Police said they scooped up a half-dozen off-road vehicles – two of them stolen -- and made two arrests Thursday during an operation that focused on the illegal use of ATVs and dirt bikes in Willimantic.
Officers gave out nine tickets to people who had been illegally riding on public streets. They seized a stolen motorcycle and a stolen motorized scooter and towed four scooters and dirt bikes, police said.
The operators of the stolen vehicles were arrested. Ricky Millbury, 37, of Vernon and Ricardo Rosado, 28, of Willimantic were charged with third-degree larceny, police said.
They said the special enforcement detail was in response to numerous complaints of people operating dirt bikes and ATVs erratically in Willimantic.
