West Hartford police make arrests in random kidnapping of pedestrian

Two people who police said kidnapped a pedestrian at knifepoint in West Hartford a month ago, robbed him, held him against his will and dumped him on a Hartford street the next day have been arrested, police said.

Jalen Faucette-Smith, 21, and Teesa McElroy, 20, both of New Britain, were arrested on numerous charges including kidnapping, robbery and larceny, they said.

Each was in custody early Tuesday on $750,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Hartford later in the day.
