Waterbury police seek wrong-way driver after deadly crash

Police are looking for a wrong-way driver who they said caused a fatal crash in Waterbury last month.

Jamall Smith, 26, of Waterbury was impaired on April 22 when the BMW he was driving went across the center line on East Main Street and struck a 2007 Honda Accord. A passenger in the Honda later died.

Police said they have a warrant for Smith’s arrest on charges of second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane. The warrant calls for $100,000 bail.
