Waterbury police are investigating and searching for a 35-year-old woman that they say is responsible for a hit and run Saturday morning that left another woman with life-threatening injuries.

Stacy Edwards, 35, will be charged with first-degree criminal attempt at manslaughter, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault, reckless driving and evading responsibility in connection to a 31-year-old being “struck by a vehicle and sustain[ing] serious life threatening visible injuries,” police said.

Investigators learned that a “nearby disturbance occurred prior to the female victim being struck by a vehicle,” they said. “The female victim was the subject of a physical assault involving that disturbance and was later observed walking on the side walk in the area of Frost Road and Homestead Avenue.
