Waterbury police are searching for man who they believe is responsible for a two-person hit and run late Tuesday night.

The accident took place near 900 Meriden Road around 11 p.m. Shane Dube, 49, and Nicole Sarandrea, 35, were walking along the road’s shoulder when a car hit both of them from behind, investigators said.

Sarandrea was “side swiped” causing her to fall and sustain serious injuries. Dube was thrown over 100 feet and later died at the hospital, investigators said.

Through identifying several pieces of debris, collecting video evidence and receiving trips from media outlets, police were able to identify a “gold colored Honda CRV with heavy front end damage,” which was “later found unoccupied on Irion Street in Waterbury,” they said.
