Christopher Bolden, 46, of Violet Street in Waterbury, was arrested Saturday night, almost 24 hours after the deadly collision, police said. He was charged with evading responsibility and was in custody on $250,000 bail.
According to police, officers were called to Baldwin and Scovill streets about 8:40 p.m. Friday. A dark SUV heading south on Baldwin struck the woman, who had been crossing the road. The car then turned around and headed north on Baldwin toward East Main Street and left the area.
The woman was rushed to Saint Mary’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.
