Waterbury police find over 600 bags of heroin in motor vehicle stop Friday

Police found over 600 bags of heroin and fentanyl, 9.2 grams of crack cocaine, a handgun and over $8,700 after pulling over a car in Waterbury Friday.

Maleke Sockwell, 25, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, illegal possession near a schools zone, criminal possession of a pistol and ammunition and six other charges during the motor vehicle stop, police said.

Police stopped Sockwell’s vehicle, near Reidville Drive, in regard to a narcotics investigation. After pulling over, the 25-year-old tried to take off on foot, and while running, tried to get rid of multiple objects, including a cellphone.
