With the NCAA’s new rule that players could see action in up to four games without losing their redshirt. UConn football’s lack of depth forced them to use plenty of freshmen for the first quarter of the season but now, head coach Randy Edsall decided to put 15 of the 25 on the bench for the rest of the year to give them an extra season when they’re properly developed.
Of those that actually played, defensive lineman Pierce DeVaughn, offensive lineman Christian Haynes, wide receiver Heron Maurisseau, defensive backs Jalon Ferrell and Jordan Morrison and linebacker Hunter Webb will be redshirted.
