Warrants detail charges of racially motivated attack in Manchester

MANCHESTER — One of two white men charged with terrorizing three Black juveniles admitted yelling a racist slur at the youths, but only after they targeted him, arrest warrants released Tuesday say.

Matthew Lemelin, 27, faces charges that include intimidation based on bigotry or bias. His brother, Michael Lemelin, 28, accused of driving after the fleeing teens, faces charges that include second-degree reckless endangerment. Matthew Lemelin was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail, and Michael Lemelin was being held on bail of $5,000. Both are to appear in Superior Court on Aug. 25.

Matthew Lemelin told investigators he was drunk and angry early Sunday when he shouted the n-word at three juveniles who were passing by him on Main Street, police say.
