Warrant: Fight over woman sparked New Britain shooting

Related Topics: New Britain, Charles Gunn

A man’s anger that his girlfriend was cheating on him with his best friend led to a punch in the face and a retaliatory, daylight shooting in New Britain last month, police said.

Two hours before the gunfire, the man punched Kyshawn James Gunn, after which Gunn threatened to shoot him and his family, police said in an arrest warrant affidavit. Gunn is suspected of being in a car from which shots were fired into the man’s vehicle, wounding a passenger. The passenger survived.

Gunn, 22, of Charles Street in Bristol was arrested Oct. 23 and charged with first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault.
