As 2017 came to a close, the UConn women’s basketball team opened conference play with a 97-49 victory over the Memphis Tigers.
Before the game, UConn announced that freshman Andra Espinonza-Hunter was not with the team for the game as she went home to deal with a personal matter. No specifics were given and her status is unclear moving forward.
Fellow freshman Megan Walker returned after being sidelined for the last two games with an illness. Although she only saw action in the second half, Walker finished with 12 points on five-of-six shooting along with four rebounds.
