For UConn Huskies quarterback Bryant Shirreffs, it affected his family in more ways than one.
It was supposed to be his first game back as the UConn starting quarterback this past Saturday versus the South Florida Bulls. But the threat of Hurricane Irma to the Tampa area caused problems for USF’s travel plans and the game was canceled.
Bryant’s brother, Evan Shirreffs, the backup quarterback for the Miami-Florida Hurricanes, was forced to evacuate Coral Gables and headed back to their family home in Georgia where he stayed with their father John.
