Smith announced his de-commitment from UConn but stated that the Huskies are still “a top school”.
UConn football added their first 2019 high school commitment on Thursday as running back Darrin Smith announced his decision on Twitter.
A native of Frisco, Texas, Smith is a three-star prospect according to Rivals and 247sports. He held offers from Power Five schools Colorado and Nebraska along with American Athletic Conference rivals Tulane and SMU.
Smith will be the fourth player on the Huskies’ roster from Texas, joining Noel Ofori-Nyadu, Nate Hopkins and Caleb Thomas.
