Two teenagers die, one injured in Coventry vehicle crash

Two Coventry teenagers died early Monday after the vehicle they were riding into crashed into a tree on Route 44 in Coventry, police said Tuesday.

The driver, Jacob Provost, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 4 a.m. Monday, just east of Silver Street, police said.

The passenger in the front seat, Olivia Cyr, 16, died Monday night after being transported by Lifestar helicopter to Hartford Hospital, police said.

A passenger in the back seat, Samuel Smith, 18, also of Coventry, was released from the hospital Monday after suffering minor injuries, police said.
