Tropical Storm Isaias to bring heavy rain to Connecticut, but strong winds unlikely

Tropical Storm Isaias, which was downgraded from a hurricane on Saturday, is slated to bring heavy rains to Connecticut on Tuesday evening. But weather forecasters said Sunday that the storm is unlikely to bring tropical-storm-force winds into New England.

The storm hit the Bahamas Saturday, according to the National Hurricane Center, where it still threatens to cause flash flooding. By Sunday morning, the storm was just off the coast of Florida, with maximum sustained winds of about 65 mph.

The storm is expected to bring heavy rains, flooding and strong winds along the east coast of Florida, according to the hurricane center, before moving north to the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina on Monday.
