On Wednesday, the first early signing period for football got underway and head coach Randy Edsall broke out the fax machine a little early this year to get National Letters of Intent from players all across the country. The first one came from Travis Jones.
Jones is a three-star offensive lineman from local Wilbur Cross High School and is a New Haven native. He committed to Rutgers in June, but de-committed the following day and held offers from the Scarlet Knights as well as Boston College, Pittsburgh, and Temple. He gave his pledge to Edsall and the Huskies July 27.
