A toddler who was seriously injured after a 50-foot fall down a steep embankment in Vernon over the weekend is going to be OK, police said Monday.

Police got a call from someone on the Rails-to-Trials hiking area near Washington Street and Brookview Drive shortly before noon Saturday on a report of a child who had fallen down a cliff. A stroller with a toddler in it had rolled away from a parent, who was there with other children, Meier said.

The stroller rolled down an embankment and crashed, dropping about 50 feet in all, he said.
