The UConn men’s basketball coach responded to Mick Cronin’s comments that his team was a wild card.

Last week, Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin said that the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team was a “wild card” to get into the NCAA Tournament based on their rebuilt roster and out-of-conference schedule.

“They’re the ultimate wild card for our league,” Cronin said of the Huskies, who will play Villanova, Arizona, Auburn and Syracuse during the program’s non-conference schedule in addition to three games in the PK 80. “If they win some of their early games against some of the competition they’re playing, they’re a lock to get in.”

However, UConn head coach thinks of his team as more of a “work in progress” rather than a wild card.
