Two siblings are seriously injured after they were hit by a car in Torrington Thursday night, police said.

The juveniles are 9 and 13, they said. Both were airlifted to Connecticut Children’s after the collision, where the 9-year-old was in critical condition and the 13-year-old was in serious condition.

They were struck after dark, shortly before 9 p.m., on Prospect Street near Forest Street. They were trying to cross the street, police said, one on a skateboard and the other on a non-motorized scooter.

A northbound 2006 Acura struck the juveniles and stayed at the scene.
