‘Seafood bandit’ has been hitting Connecticut supermarkets

Related Topics: Terryville, Avon, Cheshire

A bold thief has filched heavy loads of frozen seafood from several supermarkets over the past few weeks.

Police have identified a suspect, a shoreline resident who also is a suspect in similar thefts at grocery stores in Avon and Cheshire, Benecchi said. Plymouth police are preparing an arrest warrant charging the man with fourth-degree larceny, he said.

The bandit’s latest target was shrimp valued at $1,100 from the Adams IGA supermarket in the town’s Terryville section. On Sunday at about 3:45 p.m., he dipped into a center aisle cooler and stuffed freezer bags he had carried in with 30-35 one-pound bags of frozen shrimp.
