Rio Olympics 2016: Team USA Routs Senegal 121-56 To Open Olympics

The UConn alumni and their friends got off to a great start in Olympic play.

Head coach Geno Auriemma started four former UConn stars, Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Tina Charles, and Maya Moore, in Team USA's Olympic debut as the Huskies American team blew out Senegal, 121-56.

Taurasi hit four three-pointers in the 1st quarter on her way to 15 points while Breanna Stewart, making her Olympic debut, scored 15 as well in the victory at Youth Arena in Rio to begin Group B pool play.

The 121 points breaks Team USA's own Olympic record of 114 points which it tset twice—in the 1992 games in Barcelona and 2012 in London.
