A registered sex offender was arrested again last weekend on charges he illegally entered a Hamden home and sexually assaulted a young child while the child was asleep.

Antwuane Darden, 37, of New Haven, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, home invasion and risk of injury to a minor, Hamden police Capt. Ronald Smith said.

Police were initially called to a home in the southern section of Hamden for a report of suspicious activity and determined Darden had entered the home and committed the assault, Smith said.

The child was transported to a nearby hospital after the incident for treatment, Smith said.
