Reacting to online photo, Manchester police chief says no evidence mayor was doing anything wrong

The police chief said Wednesday there is no evidence that Mayor Jay Moran was doing anything wrong when an officer snapped his photo standing against the wall of a local school last month.

Chief William Darby was responding to a June 11 article in Law Enforcement Today that carried a headline and included a photo suggesting that Moran was urinating against the side of Bennet Academy during a recent event. People have been sharing the photo on social media.

Moran has said he was seeking shade to check his phone and Darby affirmed that in a message to General Manager Scott Shanley Wednesday.
