Police surveillance cameras help West Hartford police find woman charged in fatal hit and run of man skateboarding home from job

The Hartford police surveillance camera system helped West Hartford police track down the woman they say is responsible for hitting and leaving for dead a 19-year-old man who was skateboarding home from his job at the Bishop’s Corner McDonald’s restaurant on April 9.

Sharon D. Esson, 53, had just left her nursing job at the St. Mary Home at Albany Avenue and Steele Road when the collision occurred, she told police. She was driving east on Albany Avenue in the right lane and did not see anything in the road. She said she felt an impact and her windshield shattered.
