A Southington man was arrested twice in a span of several hours Monday after he broke his car out of an impound lot and led officers on a high-speed chase as he returned to the police station to pick up his girlfriend after she bonded out, police said.

It all started when police received a report of a blue Cadillac driving “all over the roadway” that then hit a curb and a mailbox on Old Turnpike Road, they said.

Officers pulled the vehicle over and searched it after smelling a “strong odor of marijuana.” Police said they found more a bag containing more than 10 ounces of marijuana in the possession of the driver, Jeffrey Bowman, 23.
