A New London man dubbed the Seafood Bandit after what police describe as his penchant for plucking frozen shrimp and other ocean fare from grocery stores has been arrested, police said Tuesday.

Windsor police took Nicholas Latina, 30, into custody on April 2 after responding to a suspicious person complaint at a local store, Police Chief Donald Melanson said.

Police learned that Latina, described by store personnel as a known shoplifter, was wanted on arrest warrants from Plymouth, Vernon, Bristol and Cheshire, Melanson said. They took him to Hartford Hospital because he was reportedly ill and turned him over there to Bristol police, the chief said.
