Lovers Leap State Park in New Milford is closed because of a police investigation, the state’s environmental agency said Thursday morning.
The agency didn’t say why there is a law enforcement investigation at the park, short of saying that there is a “public safety incident” there. It’s not clear if it is an ongoing incident or if it is connected to the death of a 39-year-old Danbury man who fell at the park on Sunday.
In that incident, the people he had been hiking with the man reported him missing. They told police they had last seen him as he was hiking down from a park overlook, a DEEP spokesman said at the time.
