Police are looking for a man who was shot by an officer during a traffic stop in Naugatuck Monday, police said Tuesday.

Police are looking for a man who was shot by an officer during a traffic stop in Naugatuck Monday, police said Tuesday.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. on Maple Street, at the on-ramp to Route 8, they said during a press conference outside the Naugatuck police department. The male driver was heading toward the officer at the time he was shot, they said.

Police don’t know if the man is injured and are asking for the public’s help in finding him. He is believed to be Roznovsky Machado, 24, of Waterbury.

The officer, whom police did not identify, was treated for minor injuries and discharged from an area hospital.
