Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Waterbury, police say

A pedestrian died Friday night after he was struck by a car while crossing Chase Ave. in Waterbury, police said Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the area of 62 Chase Ave. at 9:11 p.m. for a report of a person hit by a vehicle. They discovered that a man, 41, had tried to cross the avenue from the southbound side of the road towards the north side. As he walked into the left east bound lane, the victim was struck by a Honda Civic.
