No police cameras captured shooting of a Waterbury officer, apparently by a fellow cop, state’s attorney says

None of the four officers involved in a Waterbury incident Tuesday during which one of them was shot, apparently by another, was wearing a body camera, according to a preliminary report.

Litchfield State’s Attorney Dawn Gallo, who is leading an investigation of Officer Garrett Pagel’s use of force, also said the police cars at the scene lacked dashboard cameras.

In a report on the status of her investigation, Gallo said it appears the bullet that struck Officer Charles Mauriello’s body armor was fired by Pagel, although that has not been confirmed “and is the subject of a thorough and complete investigation by the Litchfield State’s Attorney’s Office and the Connecticut State Police.
